This course teaches how to SAFELY use and care for your specific firearms and includes the responsibilities associated with firearm ownership and concealed carry requirements. I took the concealed carry class with NRA certified instructor Ricky Carrillo, from Ratio Instructors, in September 2023. It left me wanting to leave a review for others to know how highly I would recommend him to be your instructor.

It was important to me to take the class privately and Ricky was more than willing to come to my home (I’m fortunate enough to have a designated spot to safely fire on my property.) He instructed me one-on-one through the book portion of the class where he was extremely thorough and explained things in detail. If I didn’t understand something or had questions, he encouraged me to let him know and made sure I really understood what he was teaching me. When it came time for my test I passed with no problem. The day I took my class it was raining, and Ricky was more than prepared to still instruct the hands-on shooting portion of the class despite the rain. He brought a tent, table, targets and multiple of his personal firearms which he allowed me to shoot. I am a new gun owner, a woman and was not familiar with the different types of firearms which had led to me previously purchasing a handgun that wasn’t the “best fit” for me. Ricky bringing his personal firearms and not only showing and suggesting to me different options of handguns to potentially switch to but different ways to carry as a woman was more than helpful and really awesome! He had a lot of examples to show me how I may want to carry as I didn’t know. The hands-on shooting portion was my favorite part of the class, and he coached me through and helped me learn how to use the fundamentals I had just learned in the book portion of the class. After the class I went on to purchase a new handgun because of my overall gained knowledge from him. I could tell Ricky is extremely passionate about helping people learn the safe way to own and carry a gun. He had an answer for every question I had, which was a lot! The fact he was willing to teach me privately and all the extra personal touches he adds made him the perfect instructor for me. I feel he doesn’t charge enough for the services he provides in our small area of the NNK, here in VA. My wonderful experience has been shared with close family and friends and I plan to be hosting the class sometime soon for them to all come and take. Thank you so much Ricky for providing me with all you did, it was an amazing experience and I look forward to hiring you for more one on one shooting lessons!
